Christmas is a wonderful and magical time for families and this year, more than ever, there was the hope that we could celebrate fully, making up for the challenges of the past two years. We sadly face ongoing uncertainty, with a new variant that appears to have a rapid transmission rate. Christmas is again, under threat for us all and we are being asked to limit our social contacts.
The financial pressures of Christmas for young families has been impacted further by changes in Universal Credit and increases in the cost of living. A lack of lorry drivers appears to be pushing up prices on everything in shops and household bills are spiralling as we all spend much more time in our homes.
Parents all feel the pressure of making Christmas special for their children and the expectation of presents will undoubtedly weigh heavy for those who are struggling. For many of the parents we work with, the sense of helplessness and hopelessness can increase the likelihood of mental health problems, consequently impacting their ability to meet the needs of their children and the magic is lost for some in such worrisome circumstances.
How can we help…
ACCA want to bring just some of that magic back for those vulnerable families, who are facing a challenging festive period. Statistically 1 in 3 children will be living in poverty this Christmas. We are committed to making a positive difference to those children’s lives and to the lives of their families.
This year, Advanced Child Care Assessments is supporting Cash for Kids Mission Christmas. Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across the UK. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.
They believe that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full and work with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.
Every year Cash For Kids run Mission Christmas to collect gifts and donations, to give to disadvantaged children, so they’ll wake up to something under the tree on Christmas morning.
We’re working with Rock FM & Greatest Hits Radio to ensure every child in the UK gets a gift this Christmas, and we are asking for your help! Just like Mission Christmas, here at ACCA, we believe that every child deserves a gift at Christmas, so we will be donating to this wonderful cause.
