Benjamin Franklin famously said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. We 100% agree with this statement, and that’s why this year we brought Amanda onboard to ensure that the ACCA team can develop their skills effectively.
We sat down with Amanda to learn more about her experience, and her aspirations for the role.
Hi Amanda, So, when did you join the ACCA team?
“I joined in February in this post but prior to this I worked on panel as an Independent Social Worker for nine years.”
What sort of experience do you bring to the role?
“I have been qualified as a Social Worker for twenty years for the majority of my career I have worked in child protection. I have also worked part-time for many years as an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.”
So, you have a lot of experience as a Social Worker yourself, what made you want to move into Training & Quality assurance?
“Given my experience I got to the stage where I wanted to share my knowledge and skills with others. I am passionate about training and love delivering it, this goes hand in hand with achieving good quality assessments and outcomes for children.”
How have you found working with ACCA so far?
“It has been a big change and I am continuing to find my feet in my role. The team have been very supportive. The new online training has been a bit of a challenge however we are now in a position to deliver our first training package which is really exciting.”
Tell me more about your day to day with ACCA.
“My days are really busy; we have been developing a new quality assurance framework and as the aforementioned training packages on our new 360 platform.”
This week is Learning at Work Week, why do you think it’s so important that we continue to expand our skills?
“Absolutely, we all need to continue to access learning as it helps with professional growth and development.”
Do you think this is particularly important within the social care industry?
“Within social care practices change and develop, accessing learning and being responsible for professional development is fundamental to ensuring that the families and children we work with receive the best standards of service.”
What do you hope to achieve as ACCA’s Training and Quality Manager?
“I hope to improve outcomes for children and families by ensuring that we provide the panel with good quality training which in turn will improve the quality of work we undertake.”
