This month we’ve welcomed a new team member to the Advanced CCA Executive team. We sat down with him to find out more about him and the role he’ll take within the Advanced CCA team.
Hi Adam, welcome to the Advanced CCA team, tell me a bit about yourself.
Hello, I’m Adam Bishop-Cornet and I’ve just joined Advanced CCA as the Business Development Manager. I was born and raised in Liverpool and after a few stop gaps in Newcastle, York and London, I’ve finally made my way back to my roots and I’m now settled in Liverpool with my wife and two young boys. I am also a life-long (and, therefore, almost perpetually disappointed) Evertonian.
I have a LLB Law (Hons) degree, and I was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 2006.
So, you’ve worked as a solicitor, how do you think this will help your role at Advanced?
Yes, I was a solicitor in both private practice (5 years at Morecrofts LLP in its Family Team) and public practice (11 years in Liverpool City Council’s Childcare team). I was also a trustee for Merseyside Domestic Violence Services for 13 years, which was a charity supporting families and children in which there has been domestic violence.
My past has really given me an insight into and an understanding of the needs and expectations of those involved in the family justice system; from the court, local authorities, and other parties and how Advanced CCA can meet these.
My experience and knowledge of law and practice will help ACCA’s services remain relevant, effective and of value to those who use them.
What will be involved with your role as Business Development Manager?
My role put simply is to develop business, so this could be working with our current clients to see how we can further support them, exploring new business links, and ensuring that ACCA’s staff and panel of Independent Social Workers are aware of legal developments including; practice, statutory, case and other law, anything that is relevant to the operation of the business, development and delivery of services.
My Interactions with clients will initially (and sadly) be limited to indirect communication through telephone, email and video platforms for the time being. However, I hope that in short course, and aligned to the easing of social restrictions, I will be able to meet face to face with both those who currently instruct ACCA and those who might!
What was it about Advanced CCA, that made you want to join the team?
Well, I actually have a history of working with Mark (Webb) and Debbie (Pedder) dating back a decade. I regularly instructed the team at Advanced as a Solicitor, which means I’m familiar with the organisation, its key players and most of its services.
I had been consistently impressed with the quality of assessments received and the professionalism of the organisation and its staff.
From my experience of working with Mark, Debbie, and the team, I understood and shared their commitment to quality and desire to play a key part in informing and achieving the best outcomes for children.
My appointment to the executive team follows on from the Handl group’s acquisition of Advanced CCA and the joint intention to further develop the company, its services and business links whilst maintaining its core values.
Having seen where ACCA has come from and where it now is, I was excited to both see and be a part of its future with Handl’s backing. This is particularly so, given the development of the 24/7 In The Home and ParentAssess assessments both of which have, in my view, a very credible role to play in the Family Justice System, pre or during proceedings.
Sounds like you know Advanced CCA really well and can get stuck in straight away. What is it you’re looking forward to most with your new role?
I’m looking forward to meeting their current clients and working with them. I’m also looking forward to working with those in Liverpool whom I’ve worked with for the past 16 years, within a different capacity.
I can’t wait to make some new links and get out there networking again, as Yeats said… ‘There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t yet met’,
Most importantly I’m looking forward to contributing to the roll out of assessments that could have, hopefully positive, lifelong results for the child(ren) concerned and working with the team to develop other forms of assessment that can assist those in the Family Justice System.
